Here we go again...

Finished! At end of 3M Half Marathon in Austin

Welcome to my Team In Training home page.

Three years ago I did the Monster Tri in Boston as a member of TNT, and decided it was time to do another event with this excellent organization. I am training to participate in the Chicago Triathlon (August 26) as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team In Training.

In the last three years I have stayed busy, completing multiple sprint triathlons and one Olympic distance, two marathons, and a number of half-marathons. It was time to get on a TNT team again.

Each team has an "honored hero," someone locally who is either fighting or has fought a blood cancer. Ours is 22-year old David Russell. David lives here in Indianapolis and has been fighting T-Cell ALL. That's T-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. This particular cancer shows up in older kids and adolescents, and David was 20 when he was diagnosed. After chemo and a bone marrow transplant, he appeared to be cured. Unfortunately, he has since relapsed and is undergoing chemo and hoping for another transplant. David's hero is his father, and David is our Honored Hero.

I know there are a lot of really good causes out there, and it was tough to pick one. Ultimately I came back to TNT because it was a wonderful experience last time, and they commit to using no more than 25% of all donations to cover expenses. That is a better ratio than many charities out there.

All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. Please make a donation now to support my Team, and help advance the Society's mission of finding a cure.

I hope you'll visit this web site often. Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress. Thanks for your support!

Update: We were all fortunate enough to meet David last night. He is a charming, optimistic, and very self-possesed young man. Hearing him speak, it is easy to imagine him beating his cancer!
