Moving Towards a Cure
Racing in honor of Gordon Borske
This past August Sandy Wendland, Patti Fairman, David Hollander, and Cindy Saunders participated in the 2006 Accenture Chicago Triathlon as members of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team in Training. All of us worked to raise over $7,500.00 to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. Last year we raced in honor of Cheri Bellino who was diagnosed with lymphoma. A little over a year later we are happy to report that Cheri is doing great and responded well to her treatments last summer.
Last year the program was such a success that we have been working to assemble a team to participate in the next Accenture Chicago Triathlon to be held on August 26, 2007. The team “Moving Towards a Cure” includes the original participants as well as additional team members Jim Hollander, Dean Barker, Rob Wendland, Bill Steele, and Jeff Waichkman.
This year, we are dedicating our race to Gordon Borske. Gordon retired a few years ago from the business but has a family member working for Hollander Storage and Moving. It is with great sadness that I must post that Gordon lost his battle with leukemia on April 24th, 2007.
Our goal is to raise $15,000.00 for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. We hope that with the assistance of friends and family that we can achieve our goals.
