Barry Runs San Diego Rock & Roll Marathon Needs Your Help to Fight Cancer
Hello Friends, Family, & Colleagues and welcome to my Team In Training home page.
As many of you know, 2004-5 was a year in which I made my health and fitness a priority and made the transition from 370 to 220 lbs. Running became one of my new passions and in August of 2005, I ran in my first race, the America's Finest City Half Marathon in San Diego. This was quite a triumph for someone who only a year before could barley walk one mile or climb a flight of stairs without losing his breath.
One of my dreams has always been to run a full marathon (26.2 miles!) and I have become a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team in order to reach this goal. I see this challenge being driven by a combination of my quest for health and fitness with my longstanding professional commitment to the discovery of medicines to help cancer patients. I am training to run in the Rock 'n' Roll Marathon in San Diego, California on June 3, 2007 .
All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I'm completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. So many of us have lost family members or friends to this horrible disease and we know how crucial research is to finding new and effective therapies. We need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!
Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance the Society's mission.
I hope you'll visit my web site often. Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress.
Thanks for your support!
