Makie Tam's Team In Training Page
Changing lives, one mile at a time.
I crossed the finish line with a smile!
The 23rd annual California International Marathon was run on 12/04/05. It was a balmy 30 degrees at 7 a.m. in Folsom, CA. The beautiful point-to-point course began in Folsom through Orangevale and Fair Oaks and finished on Capitol Mall in Sacramento. There were many wonderful supporters along the course whose cheering and encouragement made the run enjoyable. I experienced several difficult patches during my run and, consequently, was worried about my finish time. I then saw one of TNT's honorees and was reminded of the reason why I was out on the course in the first place. As a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team In Training, my mission is to raise funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I completed this marathon in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team; afterall battling cancer and going through chemotherapy are much more challenging than running a marathon.
I want to thank all of the wonderful people who have supported my fundraising efforts and The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's efforts to win this race against blood cancers. There is still time to donate to the cause if you haven't already because TNT will keep this website available until the end of the year. I thank you in advance.
Go Team! -Makie
