Racing to Save Lives
Welcome to our Website!
We're both training for the 2006 Ironman Canada triathlon to raise funds for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
Ironman - for many, it is a scary thought: 2.4 miles of swimming, 112 miles of biking, and 26.2 miles of running all in the same day, in 17 hours or less. To reach the finish line, one must endure months of preparation and training requiring tremendous focus and determination. The payoff at the end is to cross the finish line and declare, "I am an Ironman."
Cancer - for many, it is a scary reality. It involves months of treatment, physical and psychological pain, and worry. Getting through each day requires tremendous focus and determination. There is no finish line to cross. The payoff is simply to get through another day - to one day hopefully declare, "I am a cancer survivor."
We are training to do an Ironman triathlon with Team in Training through the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in honor of all those battling cancer. We have made a personal commitment to raise a minimum of $15,000 in the quest to help find a cure for cancer. Every five minutes, someone in the United States learns that he or she has a blood cancer. Every nine minutes, someone dies of a blood cancer.
We are training so that on August 27, 2006, we can each declare, "I am an Ironman," with the ultimate goal that one day all cancer patients can declare what so many have been unable to: "I am a cancer survivor."
Please support us in our commitment and training by donating as generously as you can.
Thank you for your support!
