Celebrating My 82 Mile Accomplishment With Some Teammates and My Coach (in blue)

Welcome to my Team In Training home page. At the time of this writing, I'm only a couple of hundred dollars away from reaching my fundraising goal of $5,000, and I'm hoping you'll be the one to push me over the top. And if I'm already past my goal, your contribution is still welcome. And even if you're looking at this site just to view my progress, I'm still glad you made it.

I will not repeat all I've said in my past messages at this website except to remind you that I am training to participate in a 109 mile cycling endurance event as a member of The Leukemia Society's Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. We need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!

I have come a long way since I began this journey in August. At that time, I had not been on a road bike in over 20 years, and I don't think I had ever ridden more than 10 miles at a time. Over these past several months, I have ridden 3-4 times per week, and I have logged over 1,200 miles. This past Saturday (10/27), my teammates and I went on an 82 MILE BIKE RIDE through the beautiful Marin and Sonoma countryside. Over the course of the ride, we did climbs totaling about 5,000 feet. In about 2 1/2 weeks, I'll be crossing the finish line in Tucson having ridden 109 miles in one day, and I can't wait. I have to admit, I take great pride in what I have accomplished in these past few months for myself and and for all the people who are benefited by all of your most generous donations.

I know that everyone has not been able to help out financially, but that is more than fine. I have received words of support from every single person I have spoken to about this event, and the kind and supportive words I have received from all of you have motivated me every single day. To each and every one of you, I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

And of course, there have been so many friends and members of my family who have been able donate funds to the Leukemia Society on my behalf. I know I speak on behalf of the cancer survivors and sufferers who have been the direct recipients of your largesse when I say THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU. With the generous support of each and every one of you and thousands of people like you all across the country, one day there will be cures for all of the blood cancers and every other form of cancer.

And here's a final reminder. If you are here to donate, and if your employer makes matching corporate donations, then we need your employer's help too.

Thanks for all of your tremendous support!
