John Collett's Team In Training Page
Racing to Save Lives
Welcome to my Team In Training home page.
Hello. My name is John M. Collett, I am a Medically Retired US Army Ranger. As a Ranger with B Company 3rd Ranger Battalion, I was deployed to Mogadishu, Somalia. While in Mogadishu, I was part of the group of soldiers that FAST ROPED (slide down rope) from a Black Hawk on the October 3, 1993, earning a Bronze Star with a V/ device for Valor and a Purple Heart. This event was recently recreated in the movie Black Hawk Down. My Army career ended in 1999 during a parachuting accident with the Special Forces Training Group in which I broke my knee and back. The point of my story is not to gloat about myself; but to say I was a soldier for the USA, now a soldier for the TEAM, I am privileged to be able train and raise money for this triathlon, in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our TEAM, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!
I am currently training for Ironman Canada, 27 August 06,((2.4mile swim,112mile bike,26.2 mile run)That’s a mouth full)) endurance event. Along with training for the Ironman and raising money for the TEAM, I am a full-time student at Orange Coast College. As a member of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Team in Training, I am raising money to help find a cure and stop leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives.
Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance the Society's mission, as well as consider participating in a TNT event you’re self.
Please forward this to everyone you know. The more the merrier! I hope you will visit my web site often. Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress. If you can think of any corporate sponsors or people with out E-mail that I could contact, please E-Mail the details to RANGERCOLLETT@aol.com. It would be awesome if you could attend the event too. Thanks for your support! “Rangers Lead The Way” to a Cure, well as fast as I can. I am dedicating my Ironman to Jerry M. he is battling cancer. Please say a prayer for him and all the people battling this disease; all is possible with god. Thank you to all who donated, I have raised a total of $9,250 as of 22 Aug 06(Corporate and personal checks not showed above). Only one thing left to do; The IRONMAN.
