Stella Yang's Team In Training Page
Racing to Save Lives
Hi! Thanks for visiting my Team In Training home page!
For most who know me, it's well known that I hate exercising. I've never been athletic; never participated in sports. Exercising hurts... doesn't that mean I should stop?
Despite my aversion for all that is physical exertion, I've signed up to run the October Nike Women's half marathon in San Francisco with Team In Training because some things are more important than my dislike of exercise. Team In Training benefits the The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society by raising money and awareness about blood cancers. I initially joined Team In Training in honor of my uncle who was battling multiple myeloma, a cancer of the plasma cells that we don't know enough about yet. Sadly, I will now be running in his memory, with hope that my efforts will help other families struggling with these diseases.
This is why I'm running. Because I admired the strength of my uncle and his family. Because a half marathon is nothing compared to the pain he endured. Because the money I raise goes to research. Because cancer sucks. And because I miss him.
Please support me by making a donation. Any amount will help. Thanks!
