Welcome!

The goal of completing my first Ironman is now coming closer and seems possible with continued discipline and determination. Cancer never quits, so neither will I. Rather I will make it my focus to keep raising funds for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society until the event. These funds will support continued research and assistance of those with leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's, and myeloma.

Why? I have questioned that myself on the really long training days that are now taking over my weekends, but my reasons are simple:

  • I realize what a group of people can do together to make a difference having been involved with Team In Training for a year now. To date, IronTeam together has already raised over $371,000.
  • I have had the opportunity to get to know our honorees or those who have been afflicted by these diseases. Hearing their stories makes me want to devote my time and energy with the hope that others will not have to endure what they have or still have to go through to fight blood cancer.
  • I also am physically able to train for Ironman Canada and want to help such a great cause in the process.

When? From now until August 27, 2006, I will be focused on this goal, along with over 70 other individuals who have joined IronTeam, a division of Team In Training.

Where? Ironman Canada is in Penticton, B.C., about 3 hrs east of Vancouver. I will swim 2.4 miles, bike 112 miles, and finish with a marathon, a 26.2 mile run.
