Once again, I’m training for a triathlon through Team In Training. This time, I’m training for the 2008 IronMan Louisville triathlon -- Kentucy, here I come! The race consists of 2.4 miles of swimming, 112 miles of cycling and 26.2 miles of running…Yes, all in one day. This is one of the most difficult physical challenges I will ever undertake. However, I have a great deal of inspiration to keep me going over the 10 months of training because I'm training and racing in honor of incredible people who are battling – or have battled – all types of cancer.

The stories and strength of these individuals inspire me when I feel like skipping a workout or quitting. They also inspire me to reach my goal of raising $8,000 to help stop cancer from taking more lives. I need your help to do this.

Training officially started the first weekend in October. The first three months of training were the “base” phase and January marked the start of the “build” phase where our workouts got longer and more intense. We now have a.m. and p.m. workouts on many days and completed an Olympic distance practice triathlon on Treasure Island. The first weekend in February, I'll did my first ever half marathon in SF. The last weekend in March, I'll take on an even bigger challenge and try my first half-ironman at the WildFlower triathlon course. Stay tuned for future training updates.
