Racing to Save Lives
Thanks for visiting my Ironteam site! By now you know I’m training to compete in the 2006 Ironman USA Triathlon next July in Lake Placid, NY with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Team in Training -- a 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike ride and a 26.2 mile run. It should be a full days work plus some to finish the race. I'm estimating anywhere from 12-16 hours.
Through the Team, I’ve met several children and adults who are alive today because of new drugs and new uses for existing drugs that have greatly improved cure rates or remission duration for leukemia patients. With both family and friends being attacked by cancer, this is my way of trying to make a difference. I hope you'll join me.
Thanks to my involvement with Team in Training I have completed five triathlons, a swim from Alcatraz and a century ride in the last year and a half. I think it's safe to say that the Ironman will be by far the biggest challenge to date. I enter this experience with excitement, anxiety and determination. Both your encouragement and financial support would mean a lot to me.
