Saving lives, one mile at a time . . .
January 20, 2006
Dear Friends and Family,
Happy New Year! Sorry it’s taken so long to let you all know how things went at the Honolulu Marathon on December 11.
The day was wonderful! The marathon started at 5:00 a.m. with the firing off of a huge cannon, an amazing fireworks display, and over 28,000 participants! The race started through downtown Honolulu, which was decorated for the holidays with thousands of lights and hundreds of Christmas displays.
By the time I got to Diamond Head, the sun was rising. It was so beautiful! The whole event was so fun – so many different people from so many different countries, and everyone helping and supporting each other. Spectators lined the streets and cheered everyone, which always helps especially during those later, warmer miles! And having Mike with me for those last few miles made it even more memorable.
Thanks to support and donations like yours, over 400 Team in Training participants helped raise $1.7 million for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society for the Honolulu Marathon.
Thanks so much for your support. I am continuing with Team in Training (but not fundraising this time!). Please continue to think of Team in Training when you are looking for a very, very worthwhile charity.
Love to you all,
Louise
