Support Me and Help Find a Cure for Cancer

Welcome to my Team In Training home page.

I will be participating in Ironman 2008 in Louisville, Kentucky. This is a triathlon, so I’ll be swimming 2.4 miles, then biking for 112 miles, and finishing off with a 26.2 mile run. This will all need to be done in 17 hours or less.

And why would I do this you ask? I will be running in honor of my Auntie Jeanette, who passed away from cancer and my mom, who is a survivor. My goals are two-fold: one, to reach the finish line and two, to raise $10,000 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. The Society provides financial assistance to patients; sponsors scientific conferences around the country; produces educational materials and videos; and runs dozens of Family Support Groups nationwide, with no federal funding.

Support me and help find a cure for cancer. You can help even more by finding out if your company matches even a percentage of your donation. All donations are 100% tax deductable and 75% of every dollar goes directly to the cause. ANYTHING helps!

THANK YOU FOR YOUR GENEROSITY AND SUPPORT.

I have officially started training. WOO HOO! I have just finished my training for the first week.

Here's a little taste how my first week's schedule went.
Tuesday: Swim
Wednesday: Run
Thursday: Swim
Friday: Bike
Saturday: Bike and Swim
Sunday: Swim
Sunday was my first coached training day. We did lots and lots of drills in the pool and then did a 15 miin swim. I did 20 laps (500 meters), which is a lot better than I thought I would do. =) And then, we ran for about 40 min. HARD!, but super fun.

10/31 Last night I swam at Orange Park. My warm up, main set, and cool down all added up to 1600 yards. I finished all in about an hour. And I have to do 2.4 miles in 2 hours (for you brainiacs who are trying to do the math 1760 yards = 1 mile)...I have a ways to go, but I feel my stroke getting stronger. =)

*Sorry my donations are not up to date. I have some funds that aren't listed on here. Currently, I have $8839. Woo hoo! Less than $2000 to go!

THANK YOU AGAIN FOR SUPPORTING ME.
