Training for Hope and Love
Our sons, Austin and Carson, were born two and a half years ago. With their vibrant life came an awareness of the potential for loss. With the transformative journey of motherhood came an exploration into identity and purpose. With an indescribable love for our children came an unquenchable hope.
At the same time, thousands of children every year are diagnosed with blood cancers, denying them a chance at love and sometimes, life. These illnesses change the futures of families, friends and neighbors. They endanger humanity as a whole.
So began my pursuit for an Ironman.
On behalf of these children, I will complete an Ironman triathlon in Lake Placid, New York on July 23rd, 2006. I will swim 2.4 miles, bike 112 miles and run 26.2 miles to improve life.
From October 2005 to July 2006, as a member of Team in Training, I will log 400 hours of training as well as raise $17,000 to support the critical research, education and patient services work of The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
