Jill Simpkins' Team In Training Page
Racing to Save Lives
Welcome to my Team In Training home page.
I am training to participate in the St. Louis Marathon on April 6, 2008, as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team In Training. Team in Training is the largest fundraiser for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and the premier endurance training program for runners, walkers, cyclists and triathletes in the country.
I am raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I'm completing the marathon in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. I am also running in honor of a very special girl named Josie. Josie, who at only 7 years old, has battled Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia. Currently Josie is in remission and remains a vibrant little girl.
Unfortunately, Leukemia kills more children under the age of 20 than any other disease, and it strikes ten times as many adults as it does children. Every five minutes someone in the United States learns that they have a blood cancer and every 10 minutes someone in the United States dies from a blood cancer. However, thanks to research supported by the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society overall survival rates for the disease have more than doubled in the last 30 years.
I need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure! Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance the Society's mission.
I hope you'll visit my web site often. Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress. Thanks for your generosity and support!
Sincerely, Jill Helene Simpkins
