Jennie Scherf's Cycle for a Cure
Racing to Save Lives
Welcome! I was thinking the other day that with a husband and 3 kids to look after, working a couple days a week and being a full time student, I really needed something to occupy my time. Why not train for a 100 mile bike ride?! Perhaps all my homework has made me delirious...
Yes, it is true. Rather than commit myself to an institution for the "stressed out and insane", I have committed myself to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Team in Training program. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I'm completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!
Funds will help fight the cancers that kill over 60,000 people a year in this country and will help combat the disease that is a leading killer of children, but attacks ten times as many adults! I will be riding in America’s Most Beautiful Bike Ride on June 3, 2007. It is a 100 mile ride around Lake Tahoe. Training starts in February and I’ll be working hard to get ready for this ride and to raise money for such a wonderful cause. I am participating in honor of Honored Teammates: Audrey Duffy and Elysse Johnston, and in memory of my uncle.
Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance the Society's mission. My goal is to raise $4500. Please help and remember to send this on to others who may be interested in donating!! "Remember: The task ahead of you is never as great as the power behind you!!!" This one's for you Steve...ride on!!
I hope you'll visit my web site often. Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress. Thanks for your support!
