2006 El Tour de Tucson - Leukemia Lymphoma Society Fundraiser

Here I am in June 2006 completing the Tahoe Century as a Mentor for Team in Training.

Welcome to my 3rd Team In Training home page. Having completed the Solvang Century in April and the Tahoe Century in June, and raising over $5000 to fight Leukemia and Lymphoma, I decided to take the plunge and complete another 100 miler this year with Team in Training.

The training and ride I participate in is as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team In Training program. This program trains normal folk to do an endurance event (marathon, century bike ride, triathalon, etc.). In exchange, participants raise money for the Leukemia Lymphoma Society (LLS). The Society's mission is to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and to improve the quality of life of patients and their families. 75% of donations go to the cause. Research funded by LLS has helped advance cures for cancers, including the drug Gleevec.

I think this is a great cause, and training for and completing an endurance event is a lot of fun. I've also made some great new friends through the program and am as fit as ever! I encourage you to try it!

Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance the Society's mission. Thanks for your support!

Update 10/9/06: Training is coming along fine, although I have not been as good about getting mid-week exercise as I have been in the past. Did the Rosarito to Ensenada 50 mile ride on Sept. 30th, was a good challenge, and finished it quickly, beat all my friends in. Saturday did a 62 mile ride without many hills, and it went very smoothly. The Team is coming together very nicely and some other folks are developing into good cyclists. Fund raising is moving along decently as well. Always amzazed at some folks' generosity!!
