Dry Heaving to Save Lives!!!
As most of you know, I was unable to do the Pheonix marathon in January due to a foot injury in December. So I postponed my marathon & transferred my fundraising to the all new, super cool ALASKA MARATHON on JUNE 21ST!!
And this is where you donate! I still have over $2200 more to raise by June 6th!!! Thank you sooo much!!! Please know how important your donation is and how much every cent means... Audrey Duffy, a super cool lady and our honored teammate (diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma Stage 4) was at our practice the other morning. And she said something that really struck a chord with me.
She said, "Thank you so much. You've prolonged my life and everything you're doing here makes a difference. Please keep going with your fundraising. Am I begging for my life? Of course I'll beg for my life!!! Please! You've allowed me to be in remission for as long as I have."
She then told us in the past couple of months, she's lost a couple of friends... and how her last test showed something. But she was so positive and hopeful. It makes you think how different you would feel, how your friends and family would feel if it were you begging for your own life in front of strangers. Which of my friends would be running marathons for me? How passionate would they be to help? How many people would be affected? Really puts things in perspective. Not in a self absorbed way at all... but in a thankful way that my friends and family don't have to go through that. Makes me sooo happy to be a part of it. Pretty darn cool.
