Doing something that really matters!
Dear Friends,
As many of you know in July 2002, our world
changed, as my youngest child Colby, at age 9, was diagnosed with AML (high risk
Leukemia). Colby spent the better part of the next six months in the
hospital undergoing extensive chemotherapy treatment. Something no 9 year
old child (or anyone for that matter) should have to endure.
We were blessed, and got to keep him and today Colby James Chapman is a wonderful, bright and vibrant 14 year old! Something I am eternally grateful for. Many are not so fortunate, Colby lost his best buddy, Jonnie Lanners in 2003 and recently another friend, Bailey McManus has relapsed and undergone a bone marrow transplant, in which she spent 9 month in the hospital, away from family and friends. My friend Melissa's dad (Jim Hehli) has also been diagnosed with Leukemia. My teammate’s husband Dr. Stroberg is surviving Lymphoma, and there are so many others, I wish I could mention them all.

So today, I'm here to do something about it and to
help them WIN this battle - let them know that they are not
alone.
I’ve decided to race for a cure, I am training to participate in the San Diego Rock n Roll marathon June 2008 as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team In Training program. Please consider opening up your hearts and helping along this journey. I'm doing it for the Colby's, the Bailey's, the Jonnie's, and the Jim's out there..........their memories - for their families and for mine!
