Is running a marathon really that difficult?
Welcome to my Team In Training home page.
I have to imagine you're surprised, even shocked, that I have decided to train for a marathon. When I told my father, he initially said "Doesn't that take discipline?" Well, I have always wanted to run one marathon - and just last week a friend told me that he started training for the San Diego Marathon in June. I figure there's no better time than now. Clearly, the challenge of running this marathon pales in comparison to the struggles that cancer patients fight on a daily basis. I am hoping to raise at least $3,000 to benefit this cause.
I am training to participate in thisendurance event as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I'm completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!
I'm sure I can confidently say that most of us have friends or family that have been personally affected by cancer. I am personally dedicating my training and run to Andy Bovin, whose life was taken way too early by Leukemia.
