Ever since I lost my dad, I have been searching for what, I wasn't sure. I prayed about it a lot in those early days. One day, I found Team in Training and something inside me shifted. I knew this was what God was directing me to do. This has brought up a lot of stuff for me. This is confirmation that I am on the right track. God is molding me and allowing me an opportunity to help some wonderful and courageous people and a way to honor my dad at the same time.
You see I lost my dad to cancer this year. I had always known that cancer (any kind) is devastating. Going through this illness with my dad really brought home the toll it takes on those afflicted with the disease but also the terrible toll it takes on the family as well. I learned that those who battle all cancers are the real heroes. That is why I am celebrating my health by racing to save those who aren't as blessed as I.
Yep, I've gone nuts :p At one time in my life, it was all I could do to walk across the room due to Fibromyalgia. Today I am training to participate in a 26 mile marathon as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team In Training. How cool is that? All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I'm completing this marathon in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!
