Sarah and Dan Get Better
Want to hear a nice story?
Here's one.
On October 21, with the help of one wake-up call, one clock-radio alarm, and one watch alarm, plus one very eager wife, Sarah and Dan rolled out of bed and out to Union Square in San Francisco and started running, and we didn't stop for 4 hours, 51 minutes. Which may not be all that special as a race time, but which is pretty darn good as a Test of Endurance. Obviously, we're looking at it as the latter. (If only we had held out a little longer, we could have cracked 5 hours!)
But that's not the nice story. That's just...whatever. It's just a story. Here's where the story gets nice.
We were running, as I'm sure you know, to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Our friend Leanne was sick. She's better now, and the L&LS played a role in the healing, and we wanted to do something to help them back, so we figured that if we publicly subjected ourselves to some severe physical silliness, we might be able to wrangle a little dough out of our really fabulous friends.
Boy, did we. In five months, our insanely wonderful friends and family (and some beautiful strangers) put together $16,000 and packed it off to the L&LS. Read that again -- sixteen thousand dollars. Goodness, you people are amazing. Thank you -- it took us a good week to walk right again, but something like that kinda makes the pain go away.
Told you it was a nice story.
And it doesn't have to be over, either. If you haven't given, but want to give, it's not too late -- it's never too late, really. Just click over there on the left -- it’s all very secure and easy (and tax-deductible), and you'll get a receipt e-mailed to you immediately). You can also send a check if you'd prefer – just e-mail us and we'll tell you how. And by the way, ask your HR department about matching donations -- lots of companies do it, and it's an easy way to double your gift. Which ain't bad at all.
And thank you. All of you. You have no idea how touched we are.
