Racing to Save Lives

Making it happen at Callaway Gardens

Welcome to my Team In Training home page

I am training to participate in an endurance event as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I'm completing this event in honor of my step mother Zelia Walker who was diagnosed and survived Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. A cancer of lymphoid tissue, a part of the lymphatic system. It is sometimes just called lymphoma. This type cancer is the cause of nearly 25,000 deaths from the disease in the United States alone. The fighters and those who have fought are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!

The triathlon I will be competing in is the St. Anthony’s Olympic Distance Triathlon in Tampa, FL. It is an official southeast regional qualifier for the U.S. Triathlon Association (the U.S. Olympic governing body for the sport) and consists of a 1.5km swim, 40km bike and 10km run (.93mi./25mi./6.2mi respectively).

St. Anthony’s garners over 3500 participants from over 44 states + 13 countries around the world, including the top-seeded amateurs as well as professional athletes who compete for the $50,000 purse. (Um, I am not a contender for that ...)

Please make a tax deductible donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance the Society's mission. Your gift will help find cures and make a difference in the quality of life for those fighting these blood cancers.

I hope you'll visit my web site often. Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress and be sure to tell your friends and family. Thanks for your support!

Training to date:

WE DID IT!!!!

With your help I have reached my goal and together we are going to help save some lives. Thank you!

March was a better training month. Since I have started my training in October I have biked 393 miles, Ran 121, and Swam 32,850 yards or 20 miles. I really feel like Im ready for the the race and getting very excited as its less than 3 weeks away. I have grown alot stronger and faster as time moved on.

Race day is coming really quick and Im getting more and more excited everyday. I get to go and complete with 3500 other athletes from around the world, is that cool or what.

I was looking last night at the race schedual and it will almost be over before it starts.
