Friends and Family of Tommy Ryan
To whom much is given, much is required...
Thank you for visiting my Team In Training page. I am excited to be a part of such an amazing organization.
I have committed to running the inaugural Georgia ING Marathon in March in an effort to raise awareness and funds to help in the fight against Leukemia and Lymphoma. I have set a personal goal to raise a minimum of $5000 for research towards finding a cure.
In October 2006, my husband’s brother was diagnosed with Hodgkin's disease. Tommy had battled this form of cancer 13 years ago, only one year after he and his wife were married. Now here we are 13 years later facing the same diagnosis, only this time he has 3 children and the cancer has spread to his bone as well. Tommy has not begun his treatments yet and has already commented on how different the procedures and medicines are now then they were the first time he was faced with Chemo. This is because of the work that organizations like the Leukemia and Lymphoma society are doing.
Upon word of the cancer’s return, my family has decided to join Team in Training and help do our part to find a cure. I am training and racing with my husband, and mother, in honor of Tommy, and all of the other individuals who are battling blood cancers. The idea of training through the winter and just a few months after having my daughter, Kailey, is put into perspective by a phrase that seems to be repeated often around the Team In Training group, “If you think running a marathon is hard, try chemotherapy”. Tommy and all of the others battling cancer are the real heros on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!
If you should feel so inclined, please make a donation to help in the fight against Leukemia and Lymphoma.
All donations are tax deductible.
75% of all money raised goes directly to research.
Finding a cure for leukemia is generally considered to be a window to the treatment and cure for ALL cancers.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
