Lindsay O'Hare Brummer's Team in Training Page
Racing for the Future
Welcome to my Team In Training home page.
My Grandmother, Betty Jo, lost her battle with lymphoma in 1998. Another type of cancer took the lives of my father, Larry O'Hare, and his mother, Roma O'Hare. As a new mother I think that the best gifts we can give the new generation are a respect for the environment and research for diseases that they face at growing numbers; it is because of my belief in this that I have gotten a hybrid vehicle, chosen to cloth diaper, and am now raising money for cancer research. These amazing children should not be left with an Earth that we have destroyed and we should do all that we can so that they do not ever feel the loss of loved ones to cancer.
I am training to participate in the Rock and Roll Arizona Marathon on January 13, 2008, as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I'm completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!
I have loved to run for a long time, my mother set an American record with her relay team for the two mile relay when she was in high school; I guess you could say it's in my blood. After a 27 hour labor and a quick recovery from a cesarean, I feel like I could do anything. I will be finishing this event 7 months postpartum; I am working hard for this cause and really believe in it.
Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance the Society's mission.
I hope you'll visit my web site often. Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress. Thanks for your support!
10/27/07 -UPDATE- Training is going well! We did a team run this morning at Freestone Park; the half marathon runners did 6 miles, I finished in one hour, four minutes. The run was awesome and I am excited to do 8 miles next weekend. Last week Tyler and I went up to visit my mom in Nor Cal and I pushed my 19 lb kid in a stroller up hills a bunch! Coming back down to the desert and running the flat lands is so much easier now. I am running 5-6 days a week and improving every week. I got the iphone and I take it running with me; Tyler learned how to grab things with both hands and started with my phone as he was taking a bath so I needed a new one and I upgraded. Jeff is such a great supporter of this event and he takes on Tyler duty every morning so that I can run.
December 3! Training is going well! I have been running my little heart out and Tyler has been going along for the ride. Because it is RSV season I haven't been brining him to the kid's center at the gym, I have been running with Ty in the jogger and he LOVES it! He is about 21lbs and the stroller is at least 18, so running without him is so EASY now!
Thanks to everyone who has donated or even thought about it, every cent helps!
