Racing to Save Lives
Success! On May 20th I ran the Delaware Marathon and finished it still running! It was tough, but totally worth it. Thanks to everyone for all the donationa and support over the past few months. All of you rock. Thanks again for everything.
Welcome! I am racing for my best friend of more than 10 years, Dominique Soucy. Dom was diagnosed on Feb. 8, 2005 with Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia (CML). She is a survivor on Gleevec for a little over a year.
Dom is my hero. She has fought this battle with such determination and humor that you can’t help but admire her. She is fighting it everyday, but she does it with so much grace and spunk. She is always smiling regardless of how she is feeling and it showcases the true spirit of being a hero. She never asks for anyone’s sympathy nor expects it. When she does get upset, which is rare, she still handles it better than most. She is a true inspiration for anyone battling a life-threatening disease or just a cold. After all, she is Dom the Bomb!
Ever since I found out Dom was sick I have tried to find a way to help her. I wear my “Embrace Life: Cure Leukemia in Our Lifetime” bracelet everyday, but I wanted to do more. When I came across the Team in Training press release at work, I realized it was just what I was looking for. I asked Dom if she would be Ok with me running in her name, and after she agreed, I signed up. This is going to be the most difficult thing I have ever done in my life, but I feel that if I can run this marathon, I can do anything.
Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance the Society's mission. I hope you'll visit my web site often. Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress. Thanks for your support!
