Racing to Save Lives

Pre-race Ocean City 1/2 Marathon April 7th

Welcome to my Team In Training home page.

My sister Nikki and I are training to participate in the Rock N Roll Marathon (yes that's right 26.2 miles) this June as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team In Training. We are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. We are completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure! Without the support of people like you my Dad, Pete wouldn't have had the treatment and the support that he did to fight the battle with lymphoma 10 years ago. He has now been in remission for 9 years and we are dedicating this race to him. If you have a loved one that you would like us to run for we would be more than happy to carry a bracelet with their name on it with us during our journey.

WIth the help of family, friends and co-workers, I am over half way to my goal of $5,000. If you would like to make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training please use this website. Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress. 26 miles is going to be a long road but with the love and support from all of my family & friends I know that we can do it! Thanks for your support!

1/27/07 - We had our second run this morning... 8 miles around Rehoboth Beach and Gordons Pond State Park... Check in Next week we will be up to DOUBLE DIGITS!!

2/3/07 - 10.6 Miles today... nice sunny 28 degree morning in Rehoboth beach. I actually had to take my sweatshirt off b/c I was hot. Feeling great and looking forward to the next milestone.

2/18/07 - Well we hit 13.3 miles! I am really excited about finishing this distance.. the weather couldn't have been better about 30 degrees. 15 in two weeks doesn't seem that bad now.

2/23/07 - we worked on speed and balance today ran 8 miles along Cape Henelopen State Park and the Ferry Terminal. Tons of sun and TONS of wind!Feeling great today and next weeks 15 miles is in the back of my mind... stay tuned until next week. Thanks for all your support

3/4 - 15 miles yesterday! WOW what a sigh of relief. It was an unbelievable feeling to finish and it was quite an adventure along the way. It was a beautiful 50+ degree morning with nothing but sun. We ran from Downtown Rehoboth Beach to Lewes and then back, even hit a mile and some change on the beach running in the sand! We thank all of you who have supported us along the way so far. We couldn't have done what we have so far without you.

3/15 - A BIG thanks to everyone that made our event tonight at Scotty's, Special thanks to Alex for letting us hold the event at his bar. We raised a lot of money for our cause and couldn't have done it without all of you. Hope you all had a good time and don't forget Steakhouse26 on April 3rd!

3/17 - 30 degrees and 20 mile an hour winds didn't hold us back this morning... 16 miles came and went. What a huge victory for our group. We feel good minus a few aches and pains. Thank goodness for Dan and Harry! Thanks for keeping us strong.

4/1 - well we had a "lite" day today... just 13 miles. We had to take it easy since we have our 1/2 marathon next weekend in Ocean City. We ran through beautiful Lewes and talked "shop" with our buddy Larry who ran the VA beach half a few weeks back. Wish us luck!!

4/17 - We finished our first official race last weekend in the snow and winds! It was great however to be a part of it all. We finished just over 2 hours and felt fine after the finish. We have 18 this weekend in Rehoboth Beach and are looking forwrad to our new milestone!! So keep checking back with us to see how we did.

4/21 - 18 came and blew by... not really but it was great. Probably the nicest day that we have run since Jan. we finished in about 3 hours and some change and felt really good afterwards. We have one left to go before the BIG DAY.. two weeks and we hit 20. Thanks for all of your support!

5/5 - Well today was pretty much the most perfect day you could have to run 20 miles. We ran from our coaches house in Lewes to the boardwalk in Rehoboth and had some cheering from family basile.. my nephew Jack is a runner in the making.. at 3 he even ran a bit with us and gave us a laugh. We felt good. It was an adventure. We are really ready for our race at this point. We have 3 weeks left and can't wait. Thanks to Joe and Dan for having the group back for some great treats!

5/24 - Well one week left and counting. Nikki and I are getting anxious and excited about what is to come next weekend in CA. We are off to San Diego on Friday the 1st and the race is on the 3rd. We will hopefully be celebrating by noon with a cold beer in one hand and our metal in the other. Thank you all for your continuous support of not only us but this wonderful cause. Cheers!

Always,

Carrie
