Racing to Save Lives

Carrie and I at the Ocean City Half Marathon Finish Line.

Welcome to my Team In Training home page.

My sister Carrie and I are training to participate in the Rock N Roll Marathon (yes that's right 26.2 miles) this June as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team In Training. We are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. We are completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!

Without the support of people like you my father in law (Carrie’s Dad), Pete wouldn't have had the treatment and the support that he did to fight the battle with lymphoma 10 years ago. He has now been in remission for 9 years and we are dedicating this race to him. If you have a loved one that you would like us to add to our dedication, please let us know.

Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance the Society's mission.

I hope you'll visit my web site often. Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress. 26 miles is going to be a long road but with the love and support from all of our family & friends I know that we can do it!

2/17/07 - It has been two weeks since I have provided an update. Carrie and I completed 13.3 on Saturday morning. Yes, ladies and gentleman that is more than a half marathon!!! I can't say that I was feeling that great at the end of the run, but the recovery was not very bad. We were only scheduled for 12 miles but somehow they had us do more. Crazy... We have a light weekend this coming weekend and then 15 the week after that. Keep your fingers crossed... We will keep you posted... Thanks for checking on our progress. Still going strong!!

2/26/07 - I was away from the team this weekend, but managed to complete 8 on my own. This coming week we have 15, which I am not looking forward to at all. I've had to search for new ways to stay motivated but I am still chugging along towards my goal. Check back to see how the 15 goes this weekend.

3/3/07- Today Carrie and I completed 15 miles. WOW...I never thought I would be able to do it. The weather was beautiful and the run was not as bad as we had anticipated. At mile 12 we were even thrown a curve ball by being brought to the beach and asked to complete 1.5 miles running on the sand. I must say I was NOT happy at the thought of running on the beach that late in the run, but we got through it and finished 15 with energy to spare. For the first time I have confidence that I will be able to complete this marathon. Only 3 more months to train.... stay tuned for more adventures in my training.

3/12/07- Had a good run this past weekend. We have 16 miles this Saturday... Also don't forget to join us for a fundraising event on Thursday, March 15th at Scotty's in Fenwick. Carrie and I will be guest bartending and all tips raised between 7 and 10pm will go towards our fundraising efforts. Email me for more information.

3/17/2007 - The BIG 16 arrived yesterday and Carrie and I completed it with no problem. It was COLD and WINDY so once again Mother Nature threw us for a loop. Besides the face chapping and the lingering soreness the run was not as bad as I had imagined. Thanks to all who attended our event on Thursday night and hope to see you all at the Steakhouse event on April 3rd.

4/24/07 - It has been awhile since my last update. I ran the half marathon in Ocean City on April 7th. It was bad weather but I made it across the finish line in 2:06. This past weekend we completed our 18 mile run. Carrie and I finished with energy to spare. Looking forward to our 20 mile test in two weeks. We are now counting the weeks until the big day. I will post an update after our 20 mile run. Wish us luck and thanks for checking in...

Thanks for your support!
