Welcome to my Team In Training home page!

I am training to participate in an endurance event as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I'm completing this endurance event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!

Imagine living a life with cancer. The fear, the unknown, emotional and financial loss… the ultimate loss. Imagine your friend, loved one, your child living this life. We all know of those who fought the good fight and lost, those who are currently in battle and the many that are victorious warriors and now lead a cancer free life. Now imagine a cure…

Did you know Leukemia remains a leading cause of death in children between the ages of 0 and 14?

Eleven times as many adults as children are stricken with leukemia.

Due to extensive investment in research, the overall survival rate from leukemia has more than doubled in the last 30 years, from 14% in 1960 to over 46% in 2004.

In children, the most common form of leukemia is Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia (ALL). The overall cure rate for children with this type is now around 85%. In 1960, this survival rate was about 4%.

I have no doubt I’ll make it to the finish line at the Nike Women’s Marathon in October, I just need your help getting me to the starting line with your donations. My goal is to raise a minimum of $3,900 by Aug 1, 2006. The money raised will be used to support cancer research and the patient services provided by The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. You can help me achieve this goal by making donations, sharing your stories about blood cancers, and reminding me to keep training!
