Racing to Save Lives
Welcome to my Team In Training home page.
I trained to participate in the Rock and Roll Marathon in San Diego this June as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training raised funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I completed this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!
Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance the Society's mission.
Thanks for your support!
2/22/08 - I'm about to wrap-up my forth full week of training. Running six miles tomorrow. Every Saturday is a group run/training session and every Saturday I run further then I've ever run before. Thanks to everyone who has donated to support my efforts thus far. Only $3450 to go.
3/3/08 - So, on Saturday morning, I ran seven miles and was feeling it. The slow building of miles is what makes this training program extremely helpful. After the run I checked my email and got notice that dear friends of mine in Kansas had made a sizable donation. It sure was great timing as it made me forget just how tired I was. Now only $2975 to go (and a ton of miles).
3/29/08 - I ran 12 miles this morning and while I am a bit sore this evening, the run itself was not too bad. I'm basically halfway there as far as mileage goes and a bit beyond halfway when it comes to the fund-raising...only $1899 to go.
4/26/08 - Ran 16 miles today. That's 5x what I used to run on a typical run. Legs are starting to give me a bit of trouble, but I'm sure its nothing that the doc can't fix. I still need $1749 to hit my goal.
5/12/08 - I ran 18 miles on Saturday. Yes, 18 miles. That is the longest run I will do before the big day. As always, I checked my email after the run and was happy to see a nice donation from some friends of mine. Always nice to get some donation news after a hard run. $1374 left...
5/20/08 - Knocked-out my final long run (14 miles) on Saturday with little problem. Marathon is just shy of two weeks away. I still need $1124 to reach my goal.
5/24/08 - Ran eight miles on Saturday as training turns towards maintaining and the marathon is roughly a week away. <$1000 left to hit my fund-raising goal.
6/3/08 - I DID IT!...finish the marathon that is...still need ~$400 to hit my fund-raising goal.
Here are the results
