Racing to Save Lives

Welcome to my Team In Training home page.

I am training to participate in an Rock N' Roll Half Marathon as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I'm completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!

I appreciate any donations to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance the Society's mission!

Thanks for your support!

*Training update- 5/3*-Today was a full day!We ran 11 miles (longest run to date) down in South Austin. It was a nice day (a tad windy though). We ran the entire way in pretty good time. The first and last couple of miles were difficult, but the rest felt good. We then had our Cinco de Mayo fundraiser. We raised a lot of money and had a good time while we were at it!

*Training update- 4/26* Today ways an "easy" run...7 miles. I never thought I would say 7 miles was an easy, short run! We ran in North Central Austin.

*Training update- 4/19* I feel ready for the half marathon! We ran 10.2 miles around Town Lake. The weather was perfect and I had a great run! Cindy and I ran the whole way, averaging just over 10 minutes a mile. It really boosted my confidence to have a good run after last week's disaster!

*Training update- 4/14* I missed Saturday's run since we were out of town and made it up today. 7 miles of disaster! My body is still recovering from being sick and from the trip. The first 4 miles were a huge struggle. I finally got in to a semi-rhythm for the last 3. Ugh...I'm nervous about the 10 miler Saturday!

*Training update- 4/5* We are in Florida now! I was supposed to do a 9 mile run on my own before we left, but I have a wicked sinus infection. I can't even run up the stairs, much less 9 miles. I will skip this run and recover!

*Training update- 3/29* Today was supposed to be an 8 mile run, running part of the way on the Town Lake Trail and the other part along Congress Ave. Cindy and I took a wrong turn on the trail and again near the Capital. We ended up running close to 9 1/2 miles!

*Training update- 3/22* Today was an easy 5 mile run. Cindy and I skipped the group run and ran in our neighborhood so we could finish early and make it the neighborhood Easter Egg hunt.

*Training update- 3/16* Cindy was in Hawaii all week and did not get back until late Friday night so we opted to do our 7 mile run on our own on Sunday. It was a good run...it is hilly around here so it can be challenging! We are running the entire time and that is my goal..to run the entire half marathon!

*Training update- 3/8*We ran 8 miles this morning through a Northwest Austin neighborhood. It was a cool, crisp day...perfect for running. I felt much better this week than the last 2 weeks. We ran the entire 8 miles and our time was about 1hour and 25 minutes....about a 10:30/mile pace.

*Training update- 3/1* Today was a nice 7 mile run along the Town Lake Trail. Cindy and I decided to follow the training schedule for the marathoners for the time being. We jogged the entire time and finished in about an hour and 15 minutes.

*Training update- 2/23* The weather was much better for this weeks run! Sunny, slightly cool...couldn't ask for a better day to run! Today was a 6 mile run along Town Lake on the hike and bike trail. It was a nice run, although I didn't feel as energetic as I did last week during the 5 mile run. We ran the entire way...took about an hour and 5 minutes. We probably ran a little over 6 miles since they are doing construction on part of the trail and sent us on a detour.
