Let's save lives together!

Birds like me.

Total Mileage: 67.73

My happiest moment: Realizing my long runs are over 1/3 of the marathon distance now!

So training's been going for 6 weeks and we're up to 9 miles on the long runs. At the beginning of my training, running the whole Bear Trail (2.8 miles) was intimidating. This Saturday, I ran it after running over to campus from redwood shelter, and then back. The progress really is amazing.

The group with whom I'm running is really a lot of fun. We're good at trying to push one another through the slow parts. When you see another runner coming up behind you at a water station, it encourages you to toss that cup and keep on going.

At my friend's encouragement, I'm running a 10K this upcoming weekend...what I didn't know was that it's "The Toughest 10K in Texas." A remarkably hilly course in Lampasas. At least Storm's Burgers is good recharging food. I'll post results when I get back.

My biggest concern right now is not the running, but the fund raising. I'm supposed to have 25% of my commitment by...tomorrow (Monday, June 9) and I'm a little short. I know you'll all come through for me though! Special thanks to Joseph Achor, the first of my colleagues to make a donation!

I hope you'll visit my web site often. Stop by and shoot me some encouragement via e-mail. Stick around for the good and the bad. Send your friends! We need your help!

I have just begun a very long journey. On October 7th, I'll join 44,999 other people in a 26.2 mile run through the heart of Chicago. I'm running to benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and some personal heroes.

I started this with my buddy Cory C. in mind. Cory has endured years and years of chemotherapy treatments, several thousand needles, and far too many days where he's had to turn down his life or love because his platelet count was just too low. He and his girlfriend who has stood by him for years are my inspiration for this race. And we need YOUR help.

We've got a long way to go. $4,000 before the event in early October. I've got a long way to go too.
