John Rego's "Race For A Cure" Page
Racing to save lives.....
Hello Family and Friends. Welcome to my Team In Training home page.
I am currently training to participate in a sprint distance triathlon in New Hampshire in August as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team In Training (TNT).
TNT trains thousands of athletes (and even me) across the country every year to complete endurance events while raising funds to help the Society in it's mission to cure blood related cancers.
I'm completing this triathlon in honor of 2 special children, Aaron and Melanie who are battling blood cancers.
Aaron is our Honored Teammate. He is 14 years old and lives in Connecticut. In Nov. of 2005 he was diagnosed with A.L.L. Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Aaron has faced many complications and after several extended hospital stays he is home now under going physical therapy. His chemo treatments will continue for two more years. Aaron is a great student and loves baseball especially the Boston Red Sox
It is also my privilege to compete in this event for my nieces daughter Melanie. When Melanie was 3 yrs old she was diagnosed with A.L.L. She went through over 2 yrs. of chemotherapy and treatments. Melanie is 8 yrs. old now and is thankfully in remission. Her parents Amy and Ted and her big brother Evan know how truly special she is. My family and I see Melanie at family events occasionally and she is as beautiful a little girl as you could imagine.
Melanie and Aaron will give me the inspiration I need and TNT is giving me the coaching and training I need. I will do the swimming, biking and running but I need your help to cross the ultimate finish line...a cure.
Any donation you can make would be greatly appreciated to help me reach my goal of 3,000 dollars. You can donate by cash or check made out to (The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society) or you can make a secure credit card donation by clicking on the donation amount on the right side of this page.
