The Rock-n-Roll Marathon in San Diego
It is hard to believe that a month has already gone by since the Rock-n-Roll Marathon in San Diego. My experience with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society was such a pleasant one that I stayed on with the Team in Training and also ran the Fairfield Half on June 22.
I wanted to take one more opportunity to thank all my generous supporters that donated to the society’s largest annual fundraiser. I was able to bring over $4000 in contributions for blood cancer research to the Rock-n-Roll Marathon. As a team the 9 members representing the Connecticut Chapter raised about $45,000 and the 4000+ Team in Training members raised $12.5 million on a national level for this event.
My running will continue throughout 2008 as I have done for the last few years with local 5k’s and a few longer distance runs. This fall I will do to Philadelphia Distance Run of 13.1 miles and plan to make my second full marathon a local event in October at the Hartford Marathon.
The fond memories of my association with the Team in Training will not fade and I plan to support the cause in the future. Most likely my next fundraising event will begin in the summer of 2009 as I help the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society find a treatment for all forms of blood cancer.
