Summer Weber's Team In Training Page
Racing to Save Lives
Welcome to my Team In Training home page.
My dad has Leukemia and I am training to participate in the Disney Marathon as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team In Training. My Uncle Hal just lost his battle with myeloma on 9-9-07 and I am raising funds to stop these blood cancers from taking more lives. I'm completing this event in honor of my dad, who has Chronic Mylogenous Leukemia (CML), my Uncle Hal and all other individuals who are battling blood cancers. The research funded by LLS has already led to the development of many cancer-fighting drugs, including the one my dad is on.
Please make a donation before December 15, 2007 to support my participation in Team In Training and help find a cure for my dad!
I hope you'll visit my web site often. Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress. Thanks for your support! UPDATE 10-7-07: I ran 12 miles yesterday in my long run. It was hot and sticky out, but I felt good at the end. :-) Only 14 weeks until the Marathon! Thank you to everyone who has donated so far! 10-20-07 - We cut back to 8 miles for our long run this week. The run was in Hershey and it was a beautiful day out! I'm averaging 18 miles M-F and attending the Saturday morning long runs with the team. 11-3-07: 13 miles today in the freezing cold! This was probably the hardest run yet because of the temperature. I was excited to receive a Corporate Sponsorship from my employer (BAE Systems) this week - that's another $1000 towards finding a cure! :-) Thank you to my friends and family who have donated. 11-10-07: Ran a cool 10 miles this morning, nothing to it. ;-) The weather was great! 11-17-07: 15 mile run in more cold weather this morning. This one was especially hard because I am still getting over being sick. 11-22-07: Doug had to work on Thanksgiving so we had Thanksgiving dinner in the hospital. A little boy with Leukemia, IV and all, was sitting at the table next to us with his family. This reminded me once again why we are working so hard to raise money for such a great cause. 11-24-07: 16 MILES! YEAH! Weather was cold, but sunny and the course was beautiful (minus the hills). :-)
