Chris Atwood's Century Ride to Roll over Leukemia

Your donation may be the last one needed

Welcome to my Team In Training home page. Valentine's Day 2006 marks the 5th anniversary of my Kidney Transplant!

On June 4, 2006 I will be riding 100 miles around Lake Tahoe to raise funds for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or LLS. Over 40,000 athletes and 500 coaches nationwide are “teaming” up to support The Society's mission: cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease, and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. My older brother, Mark, died of Leukemia on April 9, 1972 at the age of 15. It is in his honor that I take up this challenge.

My biking career began with a paper route that I inherited from my brother Mark. As he began to become more involved in activities and sports at school, I would ride my single speed bicycle over the hilly roads eleven miles around town delivering papers. It was on my route that I heard of his death.

I feel very strongly that we all can make a difference in the lives of others who are suffering from this and other blood disease. If the technology and research had been there in 1972, maybe it could have spared my brother's life. My hope is that no one has to suffer through a loss of a sibling or a child. In my own small way I am trying to help.

Please help me reach my fund raising goal of $5000 Please consider yourself an advocate for those who may be helped by these funds. Your contribution is tax deductible. Thank you for your help.
