Welcome to Skip Hines' 2007 Team In Training Page

Give me an inch and I'll give you 100 miles...

Mission Accomplished! We made it across the finish line and took part in raising $8.5 million dollars for cures! Check out my blog for my last entry. Thank you everyone who supported me! It was an awesome experience I will never forget.

If you'd like to read more about my personal journey to the finish line, feel free to read my 2007 Team In Training blog ---> So Not Lance Armstrong.

I am training to participate in America's Most Beautiful Bike Ride, a 100 mile endurance cycling event, in Lake Tahoe on June 3rd as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team In Training. All of us participating in the Team In Training program are raising funds to keep leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I'm completing this event in honor of all individuals and their families who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!

If you are reading this page you probably already know that my two childrren and I lost my wife of nearly 21 years, Carol, to non-Hodgkins lymphoma. She was 44 years old. What you may not know is that every two years during her eight year fight we traveled to the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center and Research Institute in Tampa to review the newest treatments and research. The new treatments, research and support sponsored by organizations like The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society not only gave us more time with Carol, but they allowed us all to laugh harder, live more passionately, and love more deeply than we ever had before.

The goal of curing cancer may seem like a lofty goal to attain with your contribution. But if you join my team, together we can move one inch closer to a cure. Each new advance made such a difference to Carol and our family. Cancer taught us how each moment counts. Each new treatment gave our family not only more moments but better ones.

One hundred miles is such a short distance for me but one inch closer to a cure will make a huge difference to so many affected by blood cancers. Every dollar you give matters to the individuals and their families fighting this disease. Carol's fight is over. Its our fight to carry now.

Give me an inch and I'll give you 100 miles. Be part of my Team in Training team. Make a generous donation here by May 1st, my next fundraising deadline, and we'll all cross the finish line together.

We can win this fight, one inch at a time!

Be sure to check back here frequently to see our progress--yours and mine... OUR TEAM.

Thanks for your support!
