“Few of us know what we are capable of doing… we have never pushed ourselves hard enough to find out” - Alfred A. Montapert...Racing to Save Lives

Welcome to my Team In Training home page.

As a fundraiser this season, I am raffling off these great prizes:

o First Prize: 8GB iPhone

o Second Prize: 8GB iPod Nano, with video

o A whole bunch of Third Prizes: Shopping, Dinner, and Movie gift certificates

Every $5 of your donation buys one raffle ticket and every $20 buys 5 tickets. Just submit your online donation and I will fill out your raffle tickets, enter them into the drawing, and you will be notified if/when you win. The drawing will be held on June 30th and you do not need to be present to win.

I am training to participate in an endurance event as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. I am racing for a cure and the LLS program which enables me to challenge myself physically while making a financial impact for the benefit of cancer research. My race for a cure will be the San Diego Rock N' Roll Marathon in the beautiful city of San Diego on June 1, 2008. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives.

I am excited and inspired to participate in this endurance event! As I am currently in the health field, I'm completing this marathon as an inspiration for patient driven care and oncology studies that will expand efforts to find a cure. Why am I doing this? My first marathon was no doubt a huge personal accomplishment, but this time I'm running with a purpose. Blood related cancers are the #1 disease killer of children. This year, I decided that I would focus on helping children grow up a happy and healthy lifestyle. But I can't do it by myself - I need your help to do it! These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure! This race allows me to run in honor of someone very special and dear to me as well as all individuals who are battling blood cancers.

While this race may seem extreme to you, it is nothing compared to the race with cancer that oncology children and adults compete against every day. Some hard facts that will help you realize my efforts to help oncology patients: Every 5 minutes someone is diagnosed with blood cancer. Sadly, every 10 minutes someone dies from a blood cancer. In the amount of time you read this, someone is affected by a blood cancer or has been diagnosed.

In motivation to race, run and help save lives of young children, I have a passion for the cause and will train for my second marathon. The only way to reduce these statistics is to provide the funds needed to the brightest researchers and to provide resources to allow patients to receive the care they so urgently need. The best thing about the Team in Training program is that 75% of all funds raised goes directly into research, education, and patient services, one of the best ratios of all charitable organizations! And most of all, there's no running required to help support my goal!

Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance the Society's mission. Thank you for your support!
