Begered's Going the Distance!
26.2 miles to save lives...
Welcome to my Team in Training page.
As many of you know already…I am training to run my very first marathon (San Diego, CA June 3, 2007). I am running with Team inTraining raising funds for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. This is such a great cause, helping to stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives.
The fundraising part has been a very interesting experience for me. I have never done anything of this magnitude before. I am still overwhelmed by the generosity of my friends and co-workers. You guys are awesome!!
Unfortunately, the running has been grueling for me. 6 AM Saturday runs?!? Nobody in there right mind does that! Even with saying that, I am out there at 6 AM on Saturday mornings trudging along. Thinking about all those less fortunate who have been hit with this disease keep me going. Also all the moral and financial support I have received keep me going. Please make a donation. Remember no amount is too small…every little bit goes a long way.
Thanks again for all of your support. Think of me on June 3, 2007!
TRAINING UPDATE
March 10, 2007
Today was one of my first "long" run days... 9 miles! I haven't run that long since my freshman year in highschool when I ran cross country! It actually wasn't that bad. Waking up at 5:30 was pretty grueling and the fact that my hands were freezing kind of sucked (I need gloves!). I was really proud of myself. Maybe 26.2 miles won't be that bad...I say that now because I am feeling pretty good today.
