We Did It. Thanks Everyone!
Train. Endure. Achieve. Matter.
The blisters were for a good cause.
I walked a 21.1 km. endurance event on January 14, 2007 in Phoenix as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team In Training.
Many people have helped me to raise money in the fight against blood cancer. Thanks everyone!
Donors have told me of their friends, relatives and colleagues who either lost the fight or who are still in it. I carried them with me in Arizona on a necklace of names...and I thought of them when the blisters started to sting. Those folks kept me centred on the goal.
My Honoured Team Mate was my late mother-in-law, Colleen Donoghue of Calgary. Her initial diagnosis was lymphoma.
When my grandson Caleb started kindergarten last fall, I heard that two kids in his class were winning their fight with leukemia. Their best is yet to be.
Research is improving the odds of surviving a blood cancer.
The 23 members of the Western Canada Chapter of Team in Training raised $160,000 this season in the fight against leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma. None of us could have done that without the help of friends and family. So again, THANKS.
