|Team Madelyne is excited to join Team UCP once again! Last year Madelyne crossed the finish line with friends from Akron Children’s Hospital, as well as some of her teachers and other friends. We are ready to celebrate all of the amazing progress Madelyne has made over the last year by swimming, biking and running our way to the finish line again, while raising funds and awareness for UCP of Greater Cleveland!
Madelyne started coming to UCP for physical and occupational therapy six years ago. Born at just 26 weeks and weighing one pound, nine ounces, she experienced delays in different areas of development. With the assistance of traditional therapy and the Steps to Independence Intensive Therapy, as well as her positive attitude and self-motivation, Madelyne has made great strides! She is able to sit up unsupported for long periods of time by herself and her balance and stability is steadily improving. Madelyne has a positive attitude about everything and is always ready to share a smile. She loves her older brother and sister and enjoys making new friends.
This past winter Madelyne had some major health issues, such as a collapsed lung, pneumonia, and bladder and bowel problems. She is in much better spirits now, and recently traveled to Washington D.C. for "Speak Now for Kids Family Advocacy Day" on June 24 where she met with lawmakers on Capitol Hill.
Team Madelyne is proud to be a part of Team UCP and looks forward to race day! Please consider a donation to support UCP of Greater Cleveland to ensure that all children with disabilities are able to receive quality therapy programming!
