|Team Emily is back in the race! On Sunday, July 27, Team Emily will once again be participating in the Cleveland Triathlon in support of an organization that has been so very important to us, United Cerebral Palsy of Greater Cleveland.
Our daughter Emily was born with a very rare chromosomal issue that had affected her functioning in all areas of her life. We remember when just holding her head up was a struggle for Emily! Now, at age 15, Emily is able to do so much. She is learning to kick her legs in the pool. She is able to pedal and steer a tricycle. She is learning to use a communication device to help support her communication with others. And she has become more independent in simple self care activities. Much of her progress in these activities is because of the services she receives at United Cerebral Palsy of Greater Cleveland.
UCP of Greater Cleveland serves over 1,200 children and adults with a multitude of disabilities in Northeast Ohio by empowering them to live the most independent, productive and inclusive lives possible. Their programming provides opportunities for people to set and reach goals such as walking, talking, living independently and maintaining employment. UCP never turns anyone away regardless of their financial situation. Your donation directly benefits clients and families struggling with the tremendous financial burdens associated with disability services.
Because of the support UCP has given Emily, we want to give back by racing to raise awareness and funding for UCP. If you are able, we would love for you to join us in supporting this very worthy organization.
