| Hi Everybody!
I recently started coaching a running club at my school called "Girls on the Run." It is an international organization that teaches girls about exercise, positive self-image, and all around Girl Power! Over the course of our 8 week season, we also train our girls for a 5K race. The cost to join Girls on the Run is $150, and since our student body has a high poverty level, many of my girls are only able to participate based on donations made through Team Tiara. Money raised helps cover such expenses as T-shirts, waterbottles, coaches' trainings and CPR certification. On November 15 I will be participating in my first marathon (26.2 miles), where I hope to raise $262 for Team Tiara and our local Girls on the Run chapter. | Team Tiara is the charity running leg of Girls on the Run (GOTR). GOTR is a life-changing, experiential learning program for girls age eight to thirteen years old. The programs combine training for a 3.1 mile running event with self-esteem enhancing, uplifting workouts. The goals of the programs are to encourage positive emotional, social, mental, spiritual and physical development.
