Join TEAM NORMAL™ walkers and runners* at the August 2, 2009 Rock 'n' Roll 1/2 Marathon in Chicago, IL! http://www.rnrchicago.com/
TEAM NORMAL is an official charity sponsor of this prestigious event and we hope to find 25 athletes to walk/run with TEAM NORMAL to raise awareness about the NORMAL In Schols national nonprofit organization. NIS brings the award-winning NIS program and curriculum to schools all around the country to help educate families about stress management, body image, self esteem, eating disorders and addictions.
Each time the NIS program is presented people are encouraged to seek treatment for their eating disorder or crisis.
TEAM NORMAL athletes are encouraged to raise $500 to participate in the event. For this fee, NIS will pay your race entry fee and provide a TEAM NORMAL Sugoi running singlet and/or Sugoi Victory Jacket. Create your own quick and easy fundraising page today and start raising the funds for an amazing cause.
NORMAL In Schools™ is a national nonprofit arts-in-education organization to produce, develop and implement programs and curricula that teach students of all ages about the devastating impact of eating disorders, addiction, self esteem and family dysfunction. By bringing a curriculum centered around the musical NOR•MAL into schools everywhere, NORMAL In Schools seeks to advance understanding and promote healing. TEAM NORMAL™ funds go directly toward bringing the award-winning NIS program and curriculum to high schools, junior high schools, colleges and conferences around the country. People have received treatment as a direct result of this program
“NOR•MAL went so much further than the typical production. It truly transformed a majority of the school for a period of time. Classroom teachers, student support personnel, administrators, health professionals, theater professionals, parents, and a large number of our students came together not only around a top-notch production and show, but also to support each other while learning more about ourselves through the very real issues of eating disorders and family dysfunction that many of our youth face.
From a building administrator's point of view, this is what educational theater should be all about: great performances and music and a chance for more of the school to become involved in the production -- all through real-life content that challenges and educates both the actors and the audience.”
~Steve Lodes, Principal at Greendale High School
*NORMAL In Schools™ and TEAM NORMAL™ does not promote long distance running or walking for individuals who are currently suffering from eating disorders. This activity is recommended for those who are at a healthy, normal weight, are not dieting, and who have appropriately trained for this event. |
