My name is Doug Ellis. I am 53 years old and I call Miamisburg, Ohio home. Miamisburg is just south of Dayton and about 50 miles from Cincinnati. I am running this race to honor the memory of my heroic wife, Christy and the many others who are fighting or have fought this terrible disease. I’ve never participated in a full marathon, but I’m training hard and will give my all to Team McGraw and those I am running for.
My wife Christy passed away on February 19th, 2010. Christy was 50 years old and had battled malignant brain cancer for just over 2 years. She went through much over her 2 year battle to include surgeries, whole brain radiation and chemotherapy. Despite all of this, she was still able to smile and bring joy to so many. She was always a giver of life and had such a heart for people, giving of herself and positively impacting so many during her life here on earth and continuing to do so, even now, in the seeds of life she planted. Over the 19+ years we were married, Christy taught me, by example, how to live life serving others. Christy was my best friend and my hero! I miss her terribly. I hope and pray that this small sacrifice will help produce life for many.
Blessings,
Doug |
