The Chicago Marathon will be my second marathon, and once again I have been motivated to run based on the strength patients have shown during their battles with cancer.
During the two years I worked at the Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center at Duke, I was able to witness firsthand what a difference the Tug McGraw Foundation can have in a patient's life.
I am running in honor of two very special women, Maria Whitehead and Meegan Walton. I met both in the last year of the lives, and both showed amazing strength and courage during their battles with cancer. Each encounter I had with both Maria and Meegan was always a privilege.
They left me with memories of positive thinking, love and laughter that will stay with me my entire life.
