Hi! My name is Gudrun Erla Gisladottir, and I am running the Chicago Marathon with Team McGraw on behalf of my husband Torir Torisson. We are both born and raised in Iceland and moved to Minnesota in 2003 with our three kids, Atli (15), Gisli (8) and Svana (7). I am a quilting designer and Torir is in his second year for an MBA degree at the University of St.Thomas.
In May of 2006, Torir was diagnosed with an oligo-astro mixed tumor after having a seizure on the soccer field. He underwent two surgeries to remove the egg-sized tumor and has since then been on a "watch and wait" protocol with the tumor being stable.
I am running for the Tug McGraw Foundation because I know that the funds raised will go directly into brain tumor research, with the hopes of finding a cure.
Maybe we will get there before we have to deal with the tumor again. |
