She is smart, she is confident, and she is strong. It doesn't matter if she's the fastest - it matters that she gives her all. It doesn't matter if she scores the most points - it matters that she has the chance to play. It doesn't matter if she wins - it matters that she works with her team. These are the lessons that she'll learn at Girls in the Game, the ones that matter both on and off the field.

The goal of TEAM GIG is to build awareness and support of Girls in the Game, through raising funds and promoting active and healthy lifestyles. Completing the 2008 Bank of America Chicago Marathon through TEAM GIG exemplifies the four pillars of our mission: Sports, Health, Leadership, & Life! The accomplishment of this goal symbolizes many of the important lessons girls learn through our programming: fitness, mental & physical endurance, smart eating, peer-education, leadership, and much more!

The benefits of running for TEAM GIG include:

- Complimentary 18-week marathon training program through CARA, the Midwest's largest running organization

- Free TEAM GIG gear, compliments of Nike Factory Store: DRI-fit race shirt, DRI-fit socks, visor, drawstring bag, and water bottle

- Social events, including: pre-training "fun-runs", a pre-race "Soul Food" pasta dinner, a post-race celebration dinner event, and more!

- Incentive prize program and raffle drawings

- Opportunities to meet girls from Girls in the Game to inspire you along the way

- Race day cheer groups comprised of Girls in the Game staff, girls, supporters, and your friends & family

- You help create opportunities for girls to discover their talents, strengths, and build their self-esteem in safe & supportive environments!
