Fisher House Foundation - Helping Military Families
Hello,
I will be riding my bike from San Antonio, Texas to Boston, Massachusetts and back from May 7th - early August.
The reason I chose to raise money and awareness for the Fisher House is because for me, this ride is about freedom. This is a freedom I would not have if it weren't for our soldiers preserving our rights.
This ride is my way of saying "Thank you," to our service members.
Thank you for visiting and for your support.

The Fisher House™ Program
The Fisher House™ program is a unique private-public partnership that supports America's military in their time of need. The program recognizes the special sacrifices of our men and women in uniform and the hardships of military service by meeting a humanitarian need beyond that normally provided by the Departments of Defense and Veterans Affairs.
Because members of the military and their families are stationed worldwide and must often travel great distances for specialized medical care, Fisher House™ Foundation donates "comfort homes," built on the grounds of major military and VA medical centers. These homes enable family members to be close to a loved one at the most stressful times - during the hospitalization for an unexpected illness, disease, or injury.
There is at least one Fisher House™ at every major military medical center to assist families in need and to ensure that they are provided with the comforts of home in a supportive environment. Annually, the Fisher House™ program serves more than 12,000 families, and have made available nearly 3 million days of lodging to family members since the program originated in 1990. By law, there is no charge for any family to stay at a Fisher House operated by the Department of Veterans Affairs; and Fisher House Foundation uses donations to reimburse the individual Fisher Houses operated by the Army, Navy, and Air Force. No family pays to stay at any Fisher House!
The Foundation has received the highest possible ratings from the “watch dog” organizations that evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of nonprofit organizations: For every dollar donated to Fisher House™ Foundation, 96 percent goes directly into Fisher House programs that help military families.
Online donations are completely safe and the most efficient way of donating (saving time and money), but checks are accepted. Please download and print the TFH Check Donation Form and mail the check and completed form to the address on the form.
Fisher House™ Foundation, Inc., is a not-for-profit organization under section 501(c)(3) of the IRS code. Donations are tax-deductible to the maximum extent allowed by law.

"I saw this info on the VA Boston home page and decided to donate since I had been thinking about doing so to the Fisher House but just had not gotten around to it. I think you are doing a great thing and supporting a wonderful cause. There was one thing on your blog that I found a bit ironic in that the restaurant you ate at on the North Shore (the Seawitch) is owned and operated by my next door neighbor. After seeing that, I figured it was a little sign telling me it was time to send in my donation.
Good luck on your trip home."

"As your ride comes to a close, I’m certain that your journey will continue to new horizons, still unseen. For each end is always yet another beginning, just as today is merely an early tomorrow. I can only imagine the number of “pages” you’ve written within the lives of those you’ve met along the way, and likewise, how many have been written within your own. Regardless, however, I think that it’s safe to say that everyone’s “collection” is a now little more complete. We need more people like you and more organizations like the Fisher House to pay tribute to the bravery of the young men and women who have sacrificed so much for our country. We, as civilians, will never know the true price of freedom. And, for this reason, we should forever feel indebted… Thank you and may God bless. "
