Racing to Save Lives!

In October 2005, The ALS Warrior Poet aka "The Blazeman" became the first ALS patient to ever compete in an Ironman, completing the grueling course in Kona, Hawaii in 16 hours and 28 minutes.

His battle through the Lava fields of Hawaii still fresh in his mind and no longer able to compete himself, Blazeman is assembling an army of multi-sport athletes for the War on ALS to end this disease.

These athletes, known as Team Blazeman Warriors, will compete in multi-sport events around the world to raise awareness of ALS and valuable funds for research. The proceeds will go to companies like ALS-TDF, MMDA, Project ALS and to individuals with ALS who are in need of financial assistance. Our mission is to end ALS and failure is not an option.

I have joined this cause and will be competing in the Virginia Double Iron Triathlon on Oct6-7, 2007. This entails a 4.8 mile swim, 224 mile bike, and a 52.4 mile run. This will be quite challenging but not as challenging as fighting ALS. All contributions go directly to the Blazeman Foundation. Please help me reach my goal and at the same time help to fight this disease. I am truely honored to be part of his team.

NOW IT'S YOUR CHANCE!

Despite 20 million people dying from ALS since 1869, there hasn’t been any significant effort to treat or cure this disease. Jon and ALS patients everywhere are basically offered the same treatment options as Lou Gehrig in 1939. Without raising awareness and funding, ALS will not receive the research efforts necessary to find a cure and will continue to strike down every person who is diagnosed.

"People do not follow titles, they follow courage. If you will just lead them onto the battlefield, they will follow you and so will I, unite us... unite the clans." - Braveheart
